- Biography
Born in Macon, GA and raised in Atlanta, Jeezy made his name in the underground with an undeniable hot streak of mixtapes. Projects like Trap or Die accurately depicted the glory and tragedy of mid-aughts in Atlanta, which gained him the respect of the streets and mainstream support. His 2005 debut album, Let’s Get It: Thug Motivation 101, debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard 200 and was quickly certified Platinum off the strength of singles “And Then What” and “Soul Survivor.” He followed up this early success with a streak of No. 1 albums including The Inspiration in 2006 and the critically acclaimed The Recession in 2008. Jeezy has continued to push the envelope while staying true to himself, never straying away from the lessons that he learned in the streets. On his most recent album, 2017’s Pressure, Jeezy aligned himself with a new generation of rappers and producers—ones he’s influenced over the years—to bring his story of “Thug Motivation” full circle.
