- Biography
Jadakiss is New York hip-hop royalty. As part of the legendary trio The L.O.X., Jadakiss has been a part of nearly every important era of hip-hop in the Tri-State. His raspy vocals and gritty rhymes have been a game changer ever since he made his debut on the scene with longtime friends Styles P and Sheek Louch. Jadakiss’ solo debut album, Kiss Tha Game Goodbye, dropped in August 2001 on Ruff Ryders/Interscope and debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200, thanks to singles like “Knock Yourself Out,” and “We Gonna Make It.” In 2004, he used this momentum to fuel the release Kiss of Death and its controversial hit single “Why” featuring Anthony Hamilton, which went on to become certified Gold. Jadakiss extended his reign as a solo star, moving to Def Jam in 2009, and dropping The Last Kiss that same year and the declarative Top 5 Dead Or Alive in 2015. Most recently, in 2017, he teamed up with fellow New York legend Fabolous on their collaborative album Friday on Elm Street.
