- Biography
Logic (born Sir Robert Bryson Hall II) grew up in Maryland and began his rap career with a batch of increasingly popular mixtapes spanning from 2009 to 2013, whereupon he inked a deal with Def Jam. His debut studio album, Under Pressure, came to fruition the following year, but his breakthrough came in 2015 with his critically-acclaimed concept album The Incredible True Story, which certified Logic as a truly unique storyteller in music. From there, he dropped the Bobby Tarantino mixtape (its sequel, Bobby Tarantino II, dropped in March 2018) as well as 2017 studio album Everybody, which earned Logic his first-ever No. 1 album and the greatest commercial and critical success of his career so far. The album also featured his single “1-800-273-8255,” meant to raise awareness of mental health issues and spotlight the National Suicide Prevention Hotline. The song performed well commercially, reportedly influenced a surge of calls to the hotline, and received GRAMMY nominations for Song of the Year and Best Music Video in 2018. Logic is a thoughtful and imaginative artist who exhibits deep care in how he utilizes his platform as an artist, both socially and creatively.
