- Biography
Rihanna has taken the music, entertainment, and fashion industry by storm; as an accomplished performer, she has sold 60 million albums and 215 million digital tracks worldwide, making her the top-selling digital artist of all time. The Barbadian singer-songwriter got the attention of producer Evan Rogers while performing with a group of friends in her hometown; this led to writing some demo tapes that would eventually lead her to meet JAY-Zand sign a deal with Def Jam Records. Her debut single, 2005’s “Pon de Replay,” hit No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and was followed with her debut album, Music of the Sun, that August. However, it was her third studio album, 2007’s Good Girl Gone Bad, that birthed the Rih we’ve all come to know and love. She’s released eight albums throughout her career, the most recent being her victorious 2015 album Anti, and has become the youngest—and fastest—solo artist to earn 14 No. 1 singles on the Hot 100, selling over 230 million records worldwide, and becoming Spotify’s most streamed female artist of all time. With nine GRAMMY Awards under her belt, a successful beauty, and clothing line, and musical accolades coming through on years she doesn’t release albums, Rihanna is a cultural force of nature and one of the biggest living legends of all time.
